Q&A

  • Who is this call adressed to?

The call for participation is primarily aimed at research and teaching teams from art and design schools who are carrying out projects, including and not exclusively with their students. It is also aimed at university teacher-researchers, especially as they are in contact with schools through university clusters or cooperations. The call is also open to work by industrial R&D and agencies as well as to individual research insofar as it can be linked to the themes of the call.

  • Can I apply only for a paper and not for the exhibition?

Yes, research without a proposal for the exhibition, and therefore concerning the Colloquium strand only, is not excluded, although preference is given to research based on a plastic practice.

  • Can I apply only for the exhibition?

No, it is not desired that proposals include only an ‘Exhibition’ component, as the papers are intended to provide a written synthesis of the project and the research process.

  • Can I submit two different projects: one for the conference and the other for the exhibition?

No. As the conference and exhibition components are designed to work in synergy, the paper is intended as a discussion of the research presented. The aim is to synthesise the research and reflect on its process through writing.

  •  I won't be able to attend the conference in Saint-Étienne on 27 and 28 May, can I still apply?

Yes, you can submit your proposal even if you will not be attending the colloquium.

  • Can you cover my travel and accommodation expenses?

No, the conference does not cover participants' travel expenses, which are the responsibility of their institutions.

  • Can you cover the cost of sending the exhibits to Saint-Étienne?

No, the cost of sending the exhibits will also be borne by the institutions.
